What is EUPOL COPPS role and mandate as a technical advisor to Palestinian counterparts?
This lecture will include some broader strokes of the current situation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including security and politics, COVID-19 impact, EU and UN efforts, as well as the operational achievements and challenges of EUPOL COPPS in its endeavour to reform and strengthen the Palestinian judiciary and civil police.
EUPOL COPPS was founded 2006, and represent the European Union Police and Rule of Law Mission for the Palestinian Territory. Their mission is to assist the Palestinian Authority in building its institutions, for a future Palestinian state, focused on security and justice sector reforms.
The Speaker: Anneli started working in the field of conflict management in 2005 with the Folke Bernadotte Academy, where pre-deployment training for Swedish secondees was one of her responsibilities. She has spent two years in the EU Monitoring Mission in Georgia, one year in the UN Department for Political Affairs in New York, and the past two years with EUPOL COPPS in Palestine.
She has a Bachelor’s degree from Växjö University (Political Science and English) and an unfinished Master from Uppsala University on Religion in Peace and Conflict.
