About the Event

What’s the implications of the treaties signed between Israel and its neighbouring Arab states? How will it affect the situation in Gaza and the West bank?

Background: Recently Israel has signed deals with neighbouring countries such as the UAE, Bahrain, Sudan and Morocco. These events have taken place in an era of disturbance within the MENA-region with civil wars and conflicts being a daily phenomenon which raises interesting questions. These changes are historical changes that can be interpreted in different ways, but it is important to look at their essence and thus get a more complete picture of the contemporary Israeli society and its role within the region.

This lecture: Will give the participant an understanding of these events and what the future holds, Mr. Eli Hazan will give you a most interesting lecture which will provide you not necessarily with all the answers, but a broad understanding of Israel and the Israeli society today and how the country has developed in terms of foreign policy since the end of the cold war.

The Speaker: Mr. Eli Vered Hazan is the Director of Foreign Affairs for the Likud Party in Israel. He is also a lecturer at the S.I.D College. Eli is a regular guest and contributor to Israeli and international news channels. Previously, he served as adviser to the Minister of Education; Parliamentary adviser to the Chairman of the Likud faction and the Coalition; and a publicist for Israel Hayom Newspaper. Eli completed his Masters Degree in History from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.

The Stockholm Association of International Affairs (SAIA) or Utrikespolitiska Föreningen Stockholm (UF Stockholm) is a youth association that aims to broaden interest and understanding of international affairs.
