About the Event

Lecture:

NGOs are a force for change, driven by volunteers who are not willing to wait around for matters to be addressed. In the modern globalized world, there are new power structures arising apart from the traditional ones of government bodies, MNCs, IGOs. Non-state actors such as NGOs are now able to perform more and more complex tasks and often are more effective as they are uninhibited by politics, and bring a fresh perspective to the table.

The advent of technology in our now hyper-digitized modern world requires NGOs to transform and have a digital presence to create impactful campaigns. Thus the capturing and unitilizing of technology is a core function of an NGO.  Further technology connects newer audiences to the cause and thus affects how influential an NGO is.

The birth of NGOs 2.0 showcases how it is necessary to rethink the convention to fit the needs of the present and the future successfully.

Speaker:

Niklas Huppmann is a serial social entrepreneur and the founder of Shades Of Love, HumanAid and COVAID AFRICA. He now works and lives in Berlin. He will talk about how he thinks the NGO landscape needs to rethink itself and become more modern. He believes that thinking outside the box helps to succeed in a field where most players think inside the box. He will justify why he thinks that and talk about his experiences and failures.
